Product- and process-oriented thermal controls

KAGER provides a wide range of self-adhesive temperature measuring strips

The rapid provision of self-adhesive heat and temperature measurement strips for monitoring and documenting temperature limit values is one of KAGER's core competencies. Customers can choose from a wide range of indicators with irreversible displays for use in production, quality assurance, product development and logistics. The measuring strips of the Tempstrip and Thermoscale product groups are currently in particularly high demand. Read here what distinguishes them and where their most important areas of application lie.

Dietzenbach, January 2026. – The self-adhesive temperature measurement labels from the portfolio of the German trading and consulting company KAGER cover a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. Thanks to their simple and reliable handling, the versions with irreversible result displays are considered a tamper-proof means of visualizing, monitoring, documenting and traceability of thermal limit values. This group of heat and heat indicators includes both the labels of the Tempstrip family and the multilayer indicators of the Thermoscale type. They are available in different variants and differ fundamentally in how they work.

Large selection for many tasks

Thermal indicators of KAGER's own brand Tempstrip are flexible stickers for measuring ranges from 29°C to 260°C. They are available in standard versions with various 5-, 6-, 8- and 10-field scales as well as single and multi-field measuring points. This allows users in product development, logistics and testing technology to monitor the temperatures of tools, components, packaging or device surfaces, for example. The accuracies are +/-1°C up to the 100°C limit and +/- 1.0 percent beyond that. On request, KAGER can also supply Tempstrip measuring strips and points in customer- or product-specific special designs. Each packaging unit contains ten measuring strips or 50 measuring points. From batch sizes of 5,000 onwards, these indicators are also available as roll goods.

Thermoscale multilayer films in the KAGER range are designed for temperature measurement in process and simulation chambers, machine housings and between functional active surfaces. Their multi-layer structure with an integrated microcapsule system visualizes temperature curves in a range of 150°C to 210°C. If, for example, it needs to be clarified whether the process chamber of a drying oven is working properly, or whether the heat distribution on pressure rollers is homogeneous, then Thermoscale is the method of choice. This multilayer film can also serve as a simple measuring device in lamination technology, photovoltaics, connection technology and wherever the measurement of temperature curves on surfaces is relevant from a process engineering point of view and the last digit after the decimal point is not important.

Display with colour detonators

At Thermoscale, visualization is done using different colours and colour intensities. The easy-to-read colour scale ranges from pale light blue to deep carmine red. The temperature-dependent colouring of the film is triggered by the microcapsule layer inside it. In this functional layer between the carrier material and the outer protective layer, there are tiny paint capsules and defined areas with a colouring substance. When a thermoscale film comes into contact with a hot or warm surface, these two components react with each other and colour the film.

The intensity of the colouring follows the heat distribution or development. This means that the colour display is based on the level of temperature reached and the duration of the heat exposure. With minimal effort, and without employing technical measuring instruments or complicated test setups, the user can quickly and clearly get an idea of the thermal influences on surfaces and components. Thanks to its thinness, the film can also be applied to curved surfaces. Thermoscale is available on five-metre rolls and as a single sheet (270 x 200 mm).

Members of a large product family

Tempstrip and Thermoscale are just a selection of the large range of indicators of irreversible and reversible measuring and testing equipment that KAGER currently provides. In addition to other measuring strips and measuring foils, you will also find colour-changing varnishes and special chalks. Overall, KAGER's range currently offers measuring equipment that covers a range from -17°C to 1,270°C. ms
