New ways of outer and inner refinement
At the Fachpack Show 2019 W.AG will present their new methods for customizing their design cases
With its recent investments in digital direct printing and laser cutting technology, W.AG once again added to its range of services with two innovative technologies. Thus, providing the company means to tailor product and industry-specific solutions to its customers plastic case requirements. At this year's Fachpack in Nuremberg, W.AG will be demonstrating the advantages of the new processes in hall 7. Furthermore, the manufacturer will introduce a new basic sized case from the TWIST series featuring the first prototypes of cases made of alternative organic materials.
Geisa, June 2019. – With their trade fair presence at this year's Fachpack in Nuremberg (September 24-26, 2019) manufacturer W.AG once again retains its leading position in the field of design-oriented plastic cases. In hall 7 at booth 310 the Geisa-based company will not only present a cross-section of its multi-facetted product line, but shall also focus on its expanded range of services for the outer and inner individualization of plastic cases. The focus is on the new possibilities customers will have through the company's investment in a digital printing system and the purchase of a laser cutting machine. As W.AG is expanding its processing methods for printing on the cases by yet another innovative digital print technology, the company now offers an additional alternative to waterjet cutting with their new laser cutting technology.
Ideal solution for low volume runs
By investing in a modern digital printing system, W.AG is responding to the wishes of many customers to refine low volume runs of case series with high quality colour prints. Since W.AG's production-integrated in-mold labeling is designed as a high-end printing process for high volume runs, and screen and pad printing are primarily suitable for monochrome prints, W.AG's digital system now offers the opportunity for cost-efficient printing of low volume runs, samples and prototypes. Fachpack visitors have the opportunity to convince themselves of the excellent quality of digital prints at W.AG's exhibition booth: colours and colour gradients are displayed brilliantly, contours and contrasts are razor-sharp and even transpartent plastic case shells can be refined by printing with photorealistic quality. In a first step, W.AG offers the possibility of digital printing for its successful case series TEKNO, JAZZ, BEAT and SWING. All four product lines will be presented at Fachpack 2019.
Faster because dry
W.AG has expanded its range of foam processing methods used for the product-oriented interior design of plastic cases, with the commissioning of its laser cutting machine in May. The foam processing department is located in the company's factory, right next to the main building with a separate injection molding production facility. Up until now mechanical water-jet cutting processes have been implemented to produce dimensionally accurate inlays of hard and soft foams The laser cutting provides W.AG an additional very fast, precise and dry production process. Managing director Bertram Göb explains: "The laser-cut inlay parts can be immediately processed and glued together. This is not possible with waterjet processed foam parts, since they are moist after cutting and must first be brought to the drying chamber before being glued. The new laser cutting tool saves us a lot of time and we are able to react even faster to customer requests."
Like the waterjet systems, the new laser cutting system is also integrated into W.AG's work processes. This means foam blanks produced according to customized drawings are sent directly to the machine control system. An employee places the appropriate foam blanks on the laser cutter which a vacuum system fixates onto the processing surface, cutting precisely fitting case inlays out of the board with high precision and speed. "Our new laser cutting system also shortens our throughput times. It therefore also serves our goal of being able to respond in a timely manner to various tailored design requirements from our customers", emphasizes W.AG managing director Betram Göb.
Large format with double walls
At the Fachpack 2019, W.AG will feature an additional basic case size to their TWIST series. Thus, the manufacturer expands its product line with another trio, the largest dimensions now measuring 588 x 488 mm with heights of 120, 160 and 200 mm. The TWIST series now consists a total of six basic sizes, each available in three heights. The new trio dimensions offer the largest printable exterior and the largest interior space within the TWIST series. The double-walled sandwich construction made by W.AG provides this plastic case a particularly high stability. Accessories such as straps, lid displays and logo imprints on the latches are available.
By the way: For manufacturers of products for whom an ecologically oriented transport and product protection solution is of particular relevence, W.AG offers deeper insights into its current developments in this sector at the Fachpack booth in hall 7. In Geisa specialists are currently working intensively on the implementation of organically compatible materials for the production of case shells and case inlays. Later this year W.AG plans to present the first case series made of alternative materials.
