For the first time in its almost 100 year history, the acclaimed specialist for packaging products Schümann will be attending the Logimat (8.-10.3.2016) in Stuttgart, where it will present its range of gummed tapes for the transport-secure closure of cardboard packaging. The key focus of its programme at the exhibition in hall 6 will be its two heavy duty tapes, the Unikraft and MAX7. Due to their extreme tear resistance, these tapes are the ideal solution for the material-sparing closure of heavy weight cardboard packaging.

Stadtallendorf, February 2016. – Manufacturers, retailers and providers of logistics services for whom the packaging of heavy or valuable contents in cardboard packaging is the order of the day should make sure that they don't forget to visit the Schümann trade fair stand at the Logimat. This is because in hall 6, stand 6C29, the long-standing manufacturer of packaging products will be presenting its ultra-strong tear resistant and temperature resistant heavy duty packaging tapes, the Unikraft and the MAX7. These gummed tapes are a very economical solution for the transport-secure and stabilising closure of packages in the high weight categories. This is because rather than taping up the cardboard packaging with low quality tape twice or three times over, the Unikraft and MAX7 tape can be applied to the packaging just once, saving materials and resources, and closing them effectively.

Laminated fibreglass grid

The Unikraft tape from Schümann truly lives up to its name: a dense fibreglass fabric (grid structure) which is laminated between two layers of high quality Kraft paper lends these reinforced gummed tapes an extremely high degree of tear resistance. The cardboard packaging therefore gains a sealing and tightening closure which also increases its static load capability. Whether applied in the T or H format, the Unikraft tape gives the cardboard packaging a robust degree of edge protection. This gummed tape from Schümann therefore makes a contribution that's worth its weight in gold to the reduction of potential damage during transport and is a superb closing solution for secure consignments.

Seven layers of yarn instead of fibreglass grid

At the international level, as a reinforced tape, the Unikraft gummed tapes from Schümann are currently in exceptionally high demand for use as a packaging tape for mass consignments by e-commerce and KEP service providers. An interesting alternative for many users, however, is the MAX7 gummed tape from the Schümann range of products. With its exceptional seven layers of yarn, consisting of five parallel and two corrugated yarns, it can offer tear-resistance values which are only slightly lower than the values for fibre grid strengthened Unikraft tape. The MAX7 tape is a low cost alternative for the secure closing of heavy cardboard packaging, as it is less expensive to manufacture and uses fewer raw materials. The MAX7 from Schümann also gives cardboard packaging an enhanced degree of edge protection.

Inseparable material composite

The high level of safety against tampering and unauthorized opening offered by the gummed tapes from Schümann is based on an almost inseparable material composite, since following moistening with water, the gum bonds with the surface of the cardboard almost immediately after its application. In this way, both the Unikraft and the MAX7 tape provide cardboard packaging with the maximum level of safety against tampering and unauthorized opening, which can only be opened with destructive force – which is clearly visible. For this reason, both of these heavy duty sealing tapes are suitable for use in international air freight transport.

Schümann manufactures its heavy duty packaging tape on the basis of DIN 55475 in the base colours of brown and white, and supplies them in rolls with total lengths of 100 to in excess of 1,000 metres. Both the Unikraft and the MAX7 tape can be applied with ease on fully automatic packaging lines or also manually with user-friendly dispensers. They also stand out with their long storage life – and that includes storage in hot or very cold environments. Upon the request of the customer, they can also be printed in one or several colours - with barcodes, product or transport tips as well as company logos, advertisements or safety information.
