A few days ago, packaging manufacturer Schümann added the Heat Seal Stay Tape HT Redcore to its range of products. This tape is a heat seal tape which is center creased in its centre and is used in the production of rigid setup boxes for the purpose of bonding and stabilising the corners. The highly specialist connecting element is a decisive factor for the processing safety in the scope of fully automated mass production, and is taking centre stage at Schümann's presentation at this year's FachPack trade show (27.-29.09.16) in Nuremberg.

Stadtallendorf, August 2016. – Decorative rigid setup boxes are a useful and popular form of primary packaging for any number of cosmetic products, toys, jewellery as well as food and tobacco. A key process step in their automated production is the joining and strengthening of their corner areas. At stand 305, hall 5 at the FachPack trade show, packaging expert Schümann will be presenting its Heat Seal Stay Tape which they have developed especially for this purpose, HT Redcore. This new product in the company's portfolio is a coated hot seal tape that comes in the form of a roll, and which has the special attribute of being center creased. Thanks to this attribute, the HT Redcore from Schümann fits quickly and accurately both into or on the corners of the rigid setup boxes during their production, where it is able to unfurl its bonding and sealing effect.

Angular precision and strong bonding
Rigid setup boxes and cartons come in many different sizes and formats. The production of the cartons and their covers takes place in a fully automated, multi stage and three dimensional folding and bonding process. In this respect, a high level of accuracy and shape retention is required of all of the paper, film and cardboard. In the case of the Heat Seal Stay Tapes, this means their automatic feeding and application and that it must be possible to apply them in or on the corners with full angular precision. They also have to be quick to bond. Schümann therefore offers its center creased HT Redcore on narrow rolls of tape in a variety of weights, in white and brown Kraft paper and with a high quality easy to apply hot seal adhesive. Depending on the machine type, the user also obtains the narrow rolls in different widths (19 mm and 22 mm) and in different coil-wound lengths of 100 to almost 800 metres.

"Center creased" saves process step
At stand 305, hall 5 at the FachPack trade show, the packaging and sealing product technicians from Schümann will also be on hand to tell visitors about the particular advantages offered by the preconfigured centre folding of their Heat Seal Stay Tape. Indeed, the "center creased" is the decisive attribute of the HT Redcore. Above all else, it is important for multi-stage systems which do not have their own facility for the automatic folding of the Heat Seal Stay Tape. Another plus-point of the HT Redcore from Schümann is that it can be applied to both the internal sides and external sides of the corners of rigid setup boxes.
In addition to the new HT Redcore, at its stand at the FachPack trade show, Schümann will also be presenting an overview of its current range of gummed tapes for the closure of cardboard packaging of almost all weight classes that is both dust-tight and provides safety against tampering and unauthorized opening. It will also be presenting its two heavy duty packaging tapes, the Unikraft and the MAX7. These gummed tapes are a very economical solution for the transport-secure and stabilising closure of packages in high weight categories. Rather than taping up your cardboard packaging with low quality tape twice or three times over, you can simply apply the Unikraft and MAX7 tape to your packaging once, saving materials and resources.
